Who can vote

Anyone can attend. Each member entitled to vote has one vote. Membership also gives you the right to nominate and elect Committee members. To vote, you must be a member, not an associate member, and your membership must be current. Under the Rules, your membership must also be more than 10 business days old at the meeting. Voting rights are suspended if your annual subscription ($5, due each January) is unpaid.

Not a member yet? Applications are considered by the Committee, so please apply early. To be able to vote and nominate for the Committee, apply by Friday 23 October 2026. Membership forms are available online, at the Hub, or by email to admin@huntlycommunityhub.com.au.

Can't attend? Appoint a proxy

You can appoint another member to vote and speak for you. The appointment must be in writing and signed by you. Hand it to the Chairperson before or at the start of the meeting. If you email or post it, we must receive it at least 24 hours before the meeting, so by 2:00pm Saturday 21 November. [Add link: Proxy Form]

Join the Committee

Have you ever thought about lending your skills to the Committee? We’d love to hear from you. You don’t need governance experience. You need to be 18 or over, a voting member, and keen to help Huntly thrive. Induction and support are provided.

All Committee positions are declared vacant at each AGM. Separate elections are held for President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer, followed by the ordinary members. Members hold office until the next AGM and can be re-elected.

To nominate:

  • You must be a member entitled to vote (see Who can vote above).
  • Nominate yourself, or be nominated by another member with your consent.
  • Return the nomination form by Sunday 15 November so we can prepare, or nominate on the day when the Chairperson calls for nominations.
  • If a position is contested, the election is by secret ballot.

Return forms to admin@huntlycommunityhub.com.au, PO Box 670, Huntly VIC 3551, or in person at the Hub. Nominees complete a conflict of interest declaration on the form. New Committee members complete induction and any safety screening the Hub requires.
